Comments:Eighteen populations are known from Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino Cos. Descrip suggest that Crucifixion-thorn associates with local series rather than forming one. Crucifixion-thorn is rare (a CNPS List 2 plant) in California (Skinner & Pavlik 1994). The Crucifixion-thorn Natural Area (BLM) occurs along SR 98 in Imperial Co.
