Comments:This is an abundant and widespread cypress. There are several large stands and many smaller ones scattered along the interior Coast Ranges. It can grow with McNab cypress in NorCo, but it tends to grow on upper slopes whereas Sargent cypress grows on lower slopes and in ravines [see McNab cypress series]. Stands where both cypresses are equally important are placed in this series.
Plot based descriptions:Keeler-Wolf (1983) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) reports tree density and basal area at Frenzel Creek RNA in riparian and valley bottom settings in Colusa Co., Parker (1990) describes stands at Mount Tamalpais in Marin Co. i-NorCo.
