Comments:This series definition follows Gordon & White (1994). If red shank has > 60% cover, the stand is a member of this series. If red shank cover is 60-30% and another species cover 30-60%, then the stand is a member of a mixed series. Stands where red shank is the dominant are less often encountered than those in which it is important with birchleaf mountain-mahogany or chamise [ see Red shank - birchleaf moun-tain-mahogany series, Red shank-chamise series].
