Upland information: Uplands:concave slopes; raised stream benches and terraces. Soils commonly ultra-mafic, most commonly peridotite-derived. The national inventory of wetland plants (Reed 1988) lists Port Orford-cedar as a FACU.

Comments:Port Orford-cedar is present in several forest series besides this one where it dominates. Root rot infection now exists in the Smith River drainage (Zobel 1990), Del Norte Co. l-Kl aR, m-KlaR. A substantial decline in population size is conceivable for this KlaR endemic.

Siskiyou Mountains in Humboldt Co., Sawyer & Thornburgh (1969) describe stands at Youngs Valley area in Siskiyou Mountains m-KlaR; Keeler-Wolf (1982, 1989d) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) inland, high elevation stands at Cedar Basin candidate RNA in Siskiyou Co. su-KlaR; Jimerson (1994) defines 17 associations in Six Rivers National Forest KlaR. Atzet & Wheeler (1982) define associations in sw. OR.
