Wetland information:Wetlands:habitat seasonally, permanently saturated with shallow water table. Water chemistry: fresh, saline. Valley bottoms, lower portions of alluvial slopes. Cowardin class: Palustrine emergent wetland. Uplands: all topographic locations. Soils may be ultramafic-derived. The national list of wetland plants (Reed 1988) lists one-sided bluegrass as a FAC.

Comments:The Jepson Manual includes two subspecies in Poa secunda , P. s. ssp. juncifolia and P. s. ssp. s. , and eight species of other authors ( P. ampla, P. canbyi, P. gracillima, P. incurva, P. limosa, P. nevadensis, P. sandbergii, P. scabrella ) in this species definition. These taxa and hybrids with P. pratensis are incorporated into this series.
