Comments:Populations of ocotillo are often encountered in ColD. There they have been generally treated as a part of creosote bush scrub, which is better considered a collection of series. What distinguishes this series is presence of visually conspicuous populations of ocotillo. It can also occur in the Creosote bush-cactus series, but there ocotillo is not abundant. Scattered ocotillo can occur in other ColD series as well [ see Blue palo verde-ironwood-smoke tree series, Brittlebush series, Creosote bush series, White bursage series].
