Comments:Stands of this series now typically include non-native, annual species mixed with native perennial grasses and herbs. Cheatgrass and medusa-head are common. NDDB finds no evidence of the presence of this series in GB today despite widespread presence of the species. In the ecological literature needle-and-thread is referred to as Stipa comata . The Jepson Manual places needle-and-thread in the genus Hesperostipa .
