Comments:Jeffrey pine dominates in self-replacing stands on shallow, stony, strongly serpentinized peridotite at elevations as low as 200 m in Del Norte Co. w. l-KlaR (Duebendorfer 1987). This vegetation was first described by Whittaker (1960) as a woodland, with Jeffrey pine in a patchy mosaic with western white pine shrublands [see Western white pine series]. Keeler-Wolf (1990e) qualitatively defines a Jeffrey pine woodland at the Bell Meadow RNA in Calaveras Co. m-SN; at the Grass Lake RNA in El Dorado Co. su-SN.
Plot based descriptions:Keeler-Wolf (1991a) reports tree density, frequency for stands at Big Pine Mountain proposed RNA in Santa Barbara Co. m-CenCo; Keeler-Wolf (1986a) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) describes stands at the L. E. Horton candidate RNA, Duebendorfer (1987) defines one association at nearby at Pine Flat Mountain in Del Norte Co. w. l-KlaR; Taylor & Teare (1979b) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) two associations at Smoky Creek candidate RNA in Trinity Co. m-KlaR, Jimerson (1993) six associations in Klamath National Forest KlaR, Waddell (1982) one association in Yolla Bolly Mountains in Tehama and Trinity Cos. NorCo, KlaR; Potter (1994) four associations in c. m-SN, su-SN; Parikh (1993b) reports tree density and basal area for stands at Sawmill Mountain candidate RNA in Ventura Co. o. m-TraR; Riegel et al. (1990) define one association in South Warner Wi lderness WaR, Smith (1994) eight associations in Klamath, Lassen, Modoc, Shasta-Trinity, Tahoe National Forests m-CasR, ModP, Vasek (1978) importance values for stands in Mono and Placer Cos. n. TraSN; Taylor (1980) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) defines one association at Indiana Summit RNA, Talley (1978) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) one association at Sentinel Meadow RNA in Mono Co. TraSN.
