Comments:Unlike many localized manzanitas, this one dominates where it grows in Amador and Calaveras Cos. Five rare species are associated with this series: Parry horkelia (a CNPS List 1B plant), Ione manzanita (a CNPS List 1B plant), Ione buckwheat (a CNPS List 1B plant), Irish Hill buckwheat (a CNPS List 1B plant), Bisbee Peak rush rose (a CNPS List 1B plant) (Skinner & Pavlik 1994).
