Comments:Grand fir is a common series outside California. In CA the species mixes as a secondary species in Sitka spruce, redwood, and Douglas-fir -tanoak series forests in Del Norte and Humboldt Co. Stands dominated by grand fir occur in Hum-boldt, Mendocino, a d Sonoma Cos. Grand fir x white fir hybrids occur at low and montane elevations in ne. NorCo and nw. KlaR. These populations are considered part of Douglas-fir - tanoak, Douglas-fir, and White fir series. In CA grand fir is coastal and occurs at low elevations in NorCo.
