Comments:Engelmann spruce forms a series in OR, WA and the Rocky Mountains where it is extensive. In CA it occurs in six isolated stands. The southernmost CA stand is along Clark Creek in Shasta Co.; the remaining stands are in the Salmon Mountains near Russian peak [Blakes Fork of the South Russian Creek, Duck Lake Creek, Horse Range Creek, Music Creek, Sugar Creek]. Only the Sugar Creek drainage population is in the Sugar Creek candidate RNA Keeler-Wolf (1990e). Engelmann spruce is rare (CNPS List 2 plant) in C A (Skinner & Pavlik 1994).
Plot based descriptions:Keeler-Wolf (1984b, 1989f), Sawyer & Thornburgh (1971) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) summarize three surveys in Salmon Mountains including the Sugar Creek candidate RNA in Siskiyou Co. m-KlaR. In this drainage Keeler-Wolf maps stands dominated by Engelmann spr ce.
