Comments:Coulter pine and canyon live oak are important in tree canopy in this series; Coulter pine dominates in the Coulter pine series, and canyon live oak dominates the Canyon live oak series. In this series the canopy is two- tiered, with an upper tier of conifer trees and a lower tier of canyon live oak.
Plot based descriptions:Keeler-Wolf (1985a) des-cribes Coulter pine-canyon live oak stands at Big Pine Mountain proposed RNA in Santa Barbara Co. m-CenCo; Minnich (1980b) reports tree density for TraR stands. Borchert & Hibberd (1984) discuss fire relationships.
