Comments:Throughout its range, chaparral whitethorn occurs as scattered shrubs or as the sole or dominant shrub. In stands of this series chaparral whitethorn cover is > 60%; in stands of Scrub oak-chaparral whitethorn series its cover is between 30-60%. Stands of this series develop into other vegetation types. Keeler-Wolf (1990e) qualitatively describes chaparral whitethorn stands at Fern Canyon RNA in Los Angeles Co. SoCo m-TraR; at Hall Canyon RNA in Riverside Co. m-PenR.
