Comments:This series definition follows Gordon & White (1994). Chamise occurs in many chaparral, coastal scrub, and tree series. If chamise has > 60% cover, the stand is a member of the Chamise series. If chamise cover is 60-30% and white sage cover 30-60%, then the stand is a member of this series [ see Chamise-black sage serie s]. In some areas, stands of chamise mix with stands of coastal scrub forming a mosaic of different series [ see Black sage series, California buckwheat series, California sagebrush series, Mixed sage series, Purple sage series, White sage series]. Further variation in stand composition can be handled at the association level.
Plot based descriptions:Gordon & White (1994) define a Chamise-California buckwheat-white sage association in SoCo.
