Comments:This series definition follows Gordon & White (1994). Chamise occurs in many chaparral, coastal scrub, and tree series. If chamise has < 60% cover, the stand is a member of the Chamise series. If chamise cover is 6 0-30% and bigberry manzanita cover 60-30%, then the stand is a member of this series [see Chamise series, Chamise-Eastwood manzanita series, Chamise-cupleaf ceanothus series, Chamise-woollyleaf ceanothus series, Chamise- hoaryleaf ceanothus series, Chamise - mission-manzanita series, Chamise-wedgeleaf ceanothus series]. Burke (1985), Keeler-Wolf (1986d) in Keeler-Wolf (1990e) qualitatively defines Chamise-bigberry manzanita stands at Cahuilla Mountain RNA in Riverside Co., Organ Valley RNA in San Diego Co. m-PenR.
Plot based descriptions:Gordon & White (1994) define seven associations in o-CenCo, SoCo, m-TraR.
