Comments:This series is often considered part of the coastal scrub, which is better thought of as a collection of series. This approach allows stands of parable composition which can be considered regardless of geographic location. Stands of this series differ from the California sagebrush series and Black sage series in that California sagebrush and black sage are equally important in this series.
Plot based descriptions:DeSimone & Burk (1992) define two associations, Gordon & White (1994) one association in SoCo.
Series Association:DeSimone & Burk (1992): California sagebrush-black sage association [as Group 4 = Gordon & White (1994)], Black sage-California sagebrush association [as Group 5].
