Reference:California buckeye range in CA (Griffin & Critchfield 1972). Griffin (1977), Paysen et al. (1980).
Comments:Griffin (1977) suggests plants of this series are tree-sized because they grow in locations of low fire frequency. California buckeye-dominated stands in f-SN lack hollyleaf cherry; otherwise they are similar to i-NorCo and i-CenCo stands which have hol yleaf cherry (Klyver 1931).
