Comments:This series occurs at transitional elevations between MojD and GB. Plot data are needed to clarify relationships between stands where black bush is a dominant and those where it is not [see California juniper series, Joshua tree series, and Singleleaf pinyon series].
Plot based descriptions:Rundall (1972) recognizes black bush stands [as Group II of an ordination of 46 stands] in Saline Valley in Inyo Co. MojD; Spolsky (1979) a Sonoran black bush scrub association in Anza Borrego State Park in San Diego Co. m-PenR.
